Nalini Mehta has delved deep and achieved
excellence in most of the applied arts like
painting, batik and sculpture.
The artist Mrs. Nalini learnt this art (Acrylic
Carving) while in U.S.A. way back in 1946
with the support of a friend Mr. Zobac. On
returning to India she pursued her interest
with the encouragement of her husband Dr.
Vinay Mehta. After the death of Dr. Mehta
in 1970, she put her work aside to manage
their factory. From 1982, with the help of
her children, she had the opportunity to devote
her time to the art again.
Nalini has won a lot of awards for her work
in different media and she has held quite
a few exhibitions in India and abroad.
Today she has chosen to pursue predominantly
carving in acrylic as it is a unique and exclusive
art form. This fascinating art which started
off as an experiment has become verily the
passion of her life.
